Best Time of Year to Get Married in Bali

Dry season, wet season, peak prices and shoulder-month value — here’s how to choose the perfect date for your Bali wedding.

Bali’s two seasons

Bali sits just south of the equator, so it doesn’t have spring, summer, autumn and winter — it has two seasons: dry and wet. The dry season runs roughly from April to October, with lower humidity, less rain and clear blue skies. The wet season runs roughly November to March, with warmer, more humid days and tropical showers that are often short and passing rather than constant. Temperatures stay pleasant year-round, generally in the high 20s to low 30s Celsius.

For weddings, the sweet spot is the dry season, and the busiest months are June through September — reliably sunny, low rainfall, and the classic image of a Bali wedding day. The trade-off is demand: these months are peak season, so the best venues and vendors book out far ahead, and pricing is at its firmest. If your heart is set on a July or August date, start planning early.

The smart shoulder months

If you want dry-season weather without peak-season crowds, look at the shoulder months: April, May and October. They sit at the edges of the dry season, so the weather is usually excellent, but availability is better and value is often stronger. Many of our couples find these months the perfect compromise — beautiful conditions, more venue choice, and a friendlier budget. Since season affects cost, a shoulder date can stretch your budget further.

Don’t rule out the wet season

The wet season has a bad reputation it doesn’t fully deserve. Rain often comes as a heavy, refreshing burst in the afternoon and then clears, leaving the island lush, green and uncrowded. Prices are at their lowest, venues are more available, and the scenery — especially inland around Ubud — is at its most vivid. The key is planning a proper weather backup, which we do for every wedding regardless of season. For a December or January wedding, this simply matters a little more.

Timing the day itself

Whatever month you choose, the best time of day for a Bali ceremony is late afternoon. The heat eases, the light turns golden and flattering, and you can move seamlessly from your ceremony into sunset photos and an evening reception. We build your run-sheet around the day’s light and your venue’s best angles. When you’re ready to lock a date, our guide on how far in advance to plan will help you time it perfectly.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best month to get married in Bali?

May, June, September and October are favourites — they fall in or near the dry season with reliably good weather, while May and October (shoulder months) tend to offer better availability and value than the peak of July and August.

Can you get married in Bali in the wet season?

Yes. The wet season (roughly November to March) brings warm temperatures and often short, passing tropical showers rather than all-day rain. Many couples marry beautifully in these months and enjoy lower prices and lush green scenery — we simply plan a solid weather backup.

What time of day is best for a Bali wedding ceremony?

Late afternoon is ideal. Temperatures are cooler, the light is softer and more flattering for photos, and you can flow straight into sunset and an evening reception. Beach and clifftop ceremonies are especially magical at golden hour.

Is Bali expensive during peak wedding season?

Peak months (June–September) see higher demand for venues and vendors, so popular dates book early and pricing can be firmer. Shoulder and wet-season dates often offer better value and availability if you're flexible.
